Here is Wayne’s Sharp Looking Beetle
My love for beetles started in 1974 when I purchased a 1971 Super Beetle at the age of 19 years old. Having to part with it a few years later, it became a car I missed ever since from that time. At 69 years old, I decided to look for another Beetle to enjoy for my retirement years. I found one in January 2025. It was a 1972 Super Beetle, blue color as the one from the 1970s I owned and also with a white interior. The best part was that I was lucky enough to purchase it from its original owner in Utica NY. All the original manuals and papers with the original Dealers service records, a 1972 sales brochure from the showroom, original Jack and even the owners 1972 Temporary Registration paper. Who keeps this stuff?
In the 8 months I own it I have updated it with modern equipment such as dash gauges, new speedometer , Blue tooth stereo, chrome wheels with white wall tires.
Mechanically I have installed electronic ignition, soon a 75 amp Alternator upgrade and more.
Still have a lot to do but overall it was in nice shape with only some wheel well rust that will be taken care of.
I have to thank both Slade and Heather for their wonderful videos on covering so many areas of the beetles restoration from interiors to exteriors and of course the excellent detail mechanical step by step procedures on how to replace and repair all components of the Beetle.
